Sam Backo

Originally from Ingham Queensland "Big Slammin Sam" played NRL for the Canberra Raiders and the Brisbane Broncos in an era of the game most would agree was the toughest of all.

Alongside greats like Wally Lewis, Mal Meninga and the RIP the godfather of rugby league Arthur Beetson during the late 80s State of Origin series Sam made his name as one of the last true hard men of the game.

Going on to represent Australia Slammin Sam was a Dally M Medal front rower, first prop to be man of the match in state of origin, then backing it up the next game! Sam also scored tries in all games in the Ashes Series of 1988 and was awarded the Australian Sports medal for his contributions to the rugby league.

As you guys know my great grandfather was a cane cutter back in the day and as kids we grow up on sugarcane juice! Maybe that's why I was such a big kid in my younger days. You guys have a great product there and I feel like putting the boots back on!
